Not My Secret
Hearing the words, “You have cancer” never goes away. It goes beyond a difficulty at work or an uncomfortable interaction with a friend. It is the serious moments when your life is literally turned upside down and you are faced with something beyond your control. The author knows first-hand how a cancer diagnosis can change a person’s life, family, and dreams. Not My Secret is a testimony to the unlimited power of God and the importance of faith in persevering through life’s unwanted and unexpected circumstances. In the book, the author reveals how she learned to step out in faith and experience God’s faithfulness.
The maturity of her faith didn’t occur overnight. It developed through multiple diagnoses of cancer and seven years of treatment. In her book, she shares through real-life experiences and humor, how God has faithfully provided and protected her family in the midst of life’s problems. She didn’t have a magic wand; or a bag of pixie dust in her pocket. She had what you have, the promises of God. When the enemy shot flaming arrows of doubt at her, she learned to trust in his promises. When the storms of life were raging and she felt too tired to fight, with God’s help she found the strength to keep going.
Her journey has taught her that God’s plans for her life were bigger and better than she could imagine. Her cancer journey has revealed to her the purpose of her life’s story, while difficult and painful, is not about sharing her personal success story with others. It’s the real story about how God has used her illness and once broken dreams to create new life and purpose for his story of redemption. There will be differences between each reader’s circumstances but the author hopes that what connects the reader to her story is the truth that God promises to never leave us alone, the story that refuses to be kept a secret.
